Six more weeks of school for this summer term

Hi Blog world,

I just wanted to drop a line saying that I have started the last class before I get my AA degree. I am getting so excited with be almost done and having my degree.  Having said that, I know that my last class will be lots of hard work because my teacher has a lot of work that she wants us to do.  So therefore, to keep me from falling behind I am doing everything I can to keep ahead. I have already done my notebook with all the chapters in it, it took me three days to do my notebook because of my mild Cerebral Palsy, but I worked hard and got it done! I am so proud of myself! I also did my two first homework assignments and have made both 100’s on them. Tomorrow I also have to write a math bio, which shouldn’t be that hard to do.

On today’s note though, I am finishing up the chores that I have to do. I have to clean my Betta fish tank, and do some laundry too.

Shopping wih my cousins

Hi Blog world,

I just wanted to let you guys know that I had a great weekend.  I went shopping with my cousins at the mall.  I got me some new clothes, a book on hamsters, and some stuff for my dorm that I am going to need for next fall.  Also, for Mother’s Day, I went out to a local seafood diner with my family. The food was good and we had a nice time.

Happy Easter Everyone..

Hi Blog world,

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter.  My Easter was spent having fun with my family.  After a lite lunch, filled with ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, potato salad, hot rolls, and cake and ice cream, my cousins, grandparents and I went to the beach.

While at the beach, my little cousins and I played in the sand.  We made all different kinds of molds, and built sand castles.  My older cousins also took me out to the water. I love the water, even though the waves were big and I did get knocked down a few times I still had a blast.

Happy Easter everyone!

Night Blindness

Hi Blog world,

I just wanted to drop a line about one of my vision problems: Night Blindness.  I was diagnosed with this eye problem last May.  For those of you that don’t know about Night Blindness, according to http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003039.htm, “Night blindness is poor vision at night or in dim light.”

Because of my night blindness, I was told that I would have to use a white cane at night.  Night blindness can be very scary for me; there has been times when I have almost fallen, or have even ran into a glass door because I didn’t see it.  I sometimes feel sad too.

Because we caught this early there are things we can do to try to help my night blindness, such as making sure I take my vitamins and using my eye drops.  But the best defense against night blindness is to prevent it.

Web casting, backwards reading, and the Dyslexic joke

Hi Blog World,

Today, in my New Media Tech class, we got to go to the local WSRE station and record our own web cast show.  We got to take turns, running the teleprompter, video recorder, and being the news anchor.  For those who don’t know when the script of the teleprompter is running the person running needs to be careful and follow along closely because the words are all backward.  Many of my classmates had a hard time reading the script because of this fact.  They were not alone; because the font was green when I got to run the teleprompter I could not easily follow the script. My classmates got to see what it is like for me to read on a daily basis because of my Dyslexia. When I told my classmates that this is what it is like for me to read on a daily basics one of my classmates said, “Well, I guess I am Dyslexic now.”  We all laughed.  I liked the fact that we were able to joke.

I think that the time in the WSRE studio, gave me a chance to look at my career path. Because the lights in the studio was bright, the fact that I felt nervous in front of the camera,  and because I like writing stories for the paper I think I am going to major in print reporting.

Before I close, I wanted to tell you about my weekend.  First, I got four more fish for my ten gallon fish tank. I got three blue Guppies, and one Dalmatian Molly, sadly the day after I got the fish, one of my guppies died because he got stuck in the filter. The rest of my fish are doing well though.

Lastly, I got signed up for my last term at the local college, and I also got signed up for the classes at the local university even though I have to sign up for one more class because of my reporting classes were closed.
